Acetyl L Carnitine

!±8± Acetyl L Carnitine

What Is Acetyl-L-Carnitine?

Acetyl-L-carnitine is derived from the amino acids lysine and methionine. It is mainly synthesized in the liver and kidneys and must be transported for use to other tissues in the body. It is found in highest levels in tissues that use fatty acids as the main fuel; for example the skeletal and cardiac muscles. Acetyl-L-Carnitine differs from regular L-Carnitine in that it can cross the 'blood-brain' barrier, which means its effects are usually felt more mentally - greater focus and mood elevation - whereas L-Carnitine is more physical, as you feel more physically energetic.

What Does Acetyl-L-Carnitine Do?

Acetyl-L-Carnitine's effects are mood elevation, enhanced mental focus and mental clarity - in other words it clears your mind. Acetyl-L-Carnitine HAS also been linked with weight loss effects but if this is your main target you should consider taking L-Carnitine instead. As well as this effect, Acetyl-L-Carnitine is also a powerful antioxidant which makes it great for detox - taking it with Alpha Lipoic Acidis particularly good for detox diets.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine - Directions For Use

Acetyl-L-Carnitine is usually taken either alongside training if being used for its focus and clarity - in which case 1g both before and after training is a good dosage. If using for detox then 1-2g per day spaced throughout the day with food is ideal.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine Side Effects

Taking normal levels of carnitine does not lead you to experience side effects. Taking them too close to bed time (or too many throughout the day) may lead to trouble sleeping but this is easily solved by lowering the dose.
